    Recalls for 2008 Saab

    2008 SAAB 3-Sep
NHTSA Campaign ID:AIR BAGS:FRONTAL:DRIVER SIDE INFLATOR MODULE
    Manufacturer:General Motors LLC
    Manufacture Dates:05/31/2002 - 02/15/2011
    Potential Units Affected:179861

    Defect Description:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2003-2011 Saab 9-3 vehicles manufactured May 31, 2002, to February 15, 2011, 2010-2011 Saab 9-5 vehicles manufactured June 23, 2010, to February 21, 2011, and 2008-2009 Saturn Astra vehicles manufactured April 11, 2007, to July 24, 2008. Upon deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, excessive internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture.

    Consequence:

In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the driver's frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the driver or other occupants resulting in serious injury or death.

    Action:

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver's frontal air bag inflator on Saab 9-3 and 9-5 vehicles and will replace the driver's frontal airbag module on Saturn Astra vehicles, free of charge. Remedy parts are currently unavailable. Owners were notified of the recall on March 23, 2016. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts become available. NHTSA Campaign ID:EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS
    Manufacturer:General Motors LLC
    Manufacture Dates:12/01/2005 - 09/28/2007
    Potential Units Affected:429170

    Defect Description:

General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2006-2009 Buick LaCrosse, 2006-2007 Buick Rainier, Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT, GMC Envoy XL, 2006-2008 Isuzu Ascender, and Saab 9-7x vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the headlamp driver module (HDM) may overheat and fail, causing the headlamps and daytime running lights to not illuminate.

Headlamps that do not illuminate reduce the driver's ability to see the roadway and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming vehicles, both of which increase the risk of a vehicle crash.

    Action:

GM will notify owners, and dealers will replace the HDM, free of charge. Interim notices were mailed to owners on September 2, 2015. Dealers will install a new HDM Service part as an interim repair. Owners will receive a second notice when remedy parts are available.
